Establishment of Ainthinai Vanam.
An innovative concept through establishment of forest with native species that are planted in high density method with an objective to revival of the forest ecosystem amongst the farming community. Native tree sapling representing five thinaim viz., Kurinji, Mullai, Marutham, Neithal and Paalai were planted in high density which will survive even under extreme stress conditions.
Village Adoption Programme
Karamanaithoppu – a small remotely located village in Orathanadu block was adopted by Agricultural College and Research Institute and the farmers were exposed to frontier technologies in agriculture. Besides, needed awareness also been given on water saving practices and stress management. The entry of Agricultural College & Research Institute, Eachangkottai into the adopted village has provided the needed impetus for growth and development of agriculture not only in this village and also in the adjoining villages.
TNSCST sponsored Training Programme for Farm Women.
Gaja cyclone devastated the new delta during November 2018 and farmers especially of small and marginal category have been deprived of their livelihoods. Inorder to revive them from the shock and to refurbish their livelihoods, Food Science and Nutrition department of AC&RI, Eachangkottai has conducted two day training programme for farm women in which the needed livelihood enhancement skills were imparted to 50 farm women.
