About the Department:

GENESIS

  • Department of Agricultural Engineering was established at Agricultural College and Research Institute, Killikulam in December, 2022.
  • This department is actively involved in teaching, concentrated research and advisory services on the engineering interventions and mechanization in agriculture for increasing the farmers’ income.
  • Presently the Department consists of faculty specialized in Soil and Water Conservation Engineering, Farm Power and Machinery, Bio-energy, Post-Harvest and Food Engineering.
  • The Department caters to the needs of the whole campus in the areas of Construction, Maintenance of Estate, Staff Quarters, Hostel buildings, Refurbishing works, Water supply, Operation and Maintenance of Vehicles, Electrical Works and Maintenance of Electrical installations besides the Teaching, Research and Extension activities.

  • To excel in the application of engineering principles for improving agricultural production, natural resource management, environmental conservation and rural development for the benefit of farming community

MISSION

  • Aims to impart quality and technical education in Farm Mechanization, Soil and Water Conservation, Renewable Energy and Post-Harvest and Food Processing Engineering
  • Conduct focused research and advisory services on engineering interventions and mechanization in agriculture for increasing farmers’ income

OBJECTIVES

  • To expose Under Graduate Students  with practical knowledge and field training on Farm Machinery and Equipment, Land Surveying and Levelling, Soil and Water Conservation Measures, Protected Cultivation, Renewable Energy Gadgets and Food Processing Technologies
  • To conduct engineering research and promote modernization of agriculture for enhancing and sustaining productivity in the farming sector
  • To enlighten the farmers with various agricultural engineering technologies for doubling their farm income
  • To create awareness and demonstrate new and improved technologies among the stakeholders through capacity building program in collaboration with the state departments
