About Department:
Textile Science and Design is an upcoming field that has immense demand in the industry both at national and global level. Textiles are also an important industry in our locality, where traditionally weaving, dyeing and printing (Chungadi) is being done, besides a number of weaving and garment manufacturing industries. There is very good scope of working with the local weavers to enhance their income by way of value addition and use of new technology. Earlier this department offered courses to the B.Sc. Home Science degree programme. Now this department is providing Basic Tailoring and craft making training programmes on demand. A six months certificate course on “Agro based textile finishes for entrepreneur development” is also offered. Five research projects were completed under All India Coordinated Research Projects (AICRP) on Home Science during the period 2015-17 and 2017 – 2022
