- Has a Professional experience of 22 years in various capacities as Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor of TNAU with specialization in Plant Breeding and Genetics. Has a vast experience in Agricultural Research, teaching and Extension
- Two years of experience as Project Director, Centre of Excellence in Molecular Breeding from June 2017 to Jan. 2019
- Specialized in Rice breeding – Breeding rice varieties for abiotic stresses namely, drought, submergence and sodicity tolerance besides for transplanted situations
- Released three drought tolerant rice varieties namely PMK (R ) 3, Anna (R ) 4, CO 53
- Released two rice varieties suited to irrigated transplanted situations, namely CO 51 and CO 52
- Released two submergence tolerant rice varieties namely CR 1009 Sub1 and CO 43 Sub1
- Released a Sorghum hybrid CO SH 5 and a Sorghum variety CO 32
- Completed two externally funded projects sponsored by Rockefeller Foundation and presently handling Research projects sponsored by ICAR and DBT
- Taught more than ten courses in UG and PG teaching in Plant Breeding and Genetics and Biotechnology
- Guided 10 PG students in Plant Breeding and Genetics and Plant Genetic Resources and 2 PhD students
- Involved as a member of advisory committee for more than 20 PG and PhD students of various disciplines like Agronomy, Entomology, Plant Physiology, Plant Pathology, Microbiology, Seed technology, Soil Science, Horticulture, Agricultural Extension
- Published 2 books with ISBN and 5 book chapters in books with ISBN
- Ten International articles and 25 National articles
- More than 25 conference/ seminar papers
- Nineteen years of experience in Nucleus seeds, Breeder seeds production
- Experienced in seed production in Farmers participatory mode
- Conducted successfully FLDs. OFTs and popularized all the rice varieties in Tamil Nadu
