The Department of Agricultural Engineering was instituted as part of Agriculture College and Research Institute, Madurai since the inception of the college. The faculty of Agricultural Engineering consists of specialization in Soil and Water Conservation Engineering, Farm Power and Machinery, Post Harvest Technology and Bio-energy.
The Department also includes Mini Estate Office (Assistant Executive Engineer (Civil), Assistant engineer (Mechanical) and Electrical Engineer) for maintenance of buildings and vehicles available in the college.
The Department caters the needs of the whole campus for construction of new buildings, maintenance of staff quarters, hostel buildings, refurbishing works, water supply and sanitation, operation and maintenance of vehicles, electrical works and maintenance of electrical installations besides Teaching, Research and Extension activities.
