Department of Seed Science and Technology is the vibrant unit engaged in teaching of principles of seed technology and production and distribution of seeds to the farmers of Madurai district. This department is also serving the farming community by conducting regular training programmes on seed production techniques. The needs of kitchen garden growers are satisfied with the supply of small vegetable seed packets through automatic vending machine.
Our crop physiology unit is instrumental in teaching the concepts of plant and seed physiology, apart from diagnosing the physiological disorders of plants. The coconut crop booster – coconut tonic is also supplied to the coconut growers of the southern districts of TamilNadu.
