About the Directorate
Centre for Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (CPMB&B), TNAU has been one among a few front-runners to initiate “Biotechnology” teaching. The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India is extending the financial support for the cause of manpower development since 1988. The CPMB&B was established in 1990 to take up research in plants based on cues from the science of Plant Molecular Biology. The centre has state of art facilities to carry out research and training in plant tissue culture, genetic and genome engineering, molecular markers, molecular ecology, Bioprospecting and NGS other Bioinformatics research.
About the Training
MALDI-TOF MS is one of the most potent proteomics methods that can be used for protein marker/biological markers discovery and helps breeders for selecting suitable cultivars adapted under diverse biotic and abiotic stresses/ different developmental stages. It is used for identification of bacterial species, viruses, fungi and parasites. It provides precise, quick, easy and comprehensive information on new species and novel plant proteins. The training programme has been designed to develop trained human resource on basics of MALDI TOF, its software and hardware; sample preparation, analysis and interpretation of analysed data
Target Participant
The participants (approximately 30 Nos) include faculty/scientists and students of PG, PhD from TNAU and other institutions of national level from Life Science stream. The registration fee is Rs. 2000/- + 18 % GST per participant totally (2360).
Training Content
The programme intends to impart hands on training to the participants on basics of MALDI TOF, sample preparation and analysis, interpretation of analysed data etc
