Prof. D. Uma started her career in TNAU in 1995 and subsequently obtained Ph.D., in 1999. She has served in different capacities for 24 plus years in various campuses of TNAU, teaching UG and PG courses in Biochemistry. She has been recognized as the “Best Teacher of TNAU“ twice during these periods. She has mentored PG research on Bioprospecting for therapeutic and commercially significant secondary metabolites. Her research includes Isolation and characterization of antidiabetic principles, anti-inflammatory compounds, and insecticidal compounds from plant sources. Her team has isolated and characterized termiticidal compounds from Lantana camara. She has also contributed to the characterization and value addition of liquid biofuels like bio oil and transesterification products.
