Objective of the Course
The “Hands on training program in mining of bioactive metabolites” provides potential opportunity to the PG, Ph.D. students and faculty to know more about importance and identification of bioactive metabolites using advanced techniques.
Training Content
Plants produce a variety of metabolites that are essential for plant growth and human health. To fully understand the diversity of metabolites in plants, many methods have been developed for metabolite detection and processing. This training program intends to impart lectures by experts in Biochemistry and training to the participants on secondary metabolites and its significance in agriculture, introduction to tools in metabolite mining, an overview of sample extraction methods in metabolite mining, In vitro screening techniques for determination of bioactive metabolites, mechanism of action of bioactive secondary metabolites, derivatization in gas chromatography, HPLC and GC-MS techniques for identification and characterization of bioactive principles.
Target Participants
The participants (approximately 30 Nos.) include faculty/ scientists and students of UG, PG, Ph.D. from TNAU and other Indian institutions from Life Science stream. The registration fee is Rs.3540/-per participant (including 18% GST).
