E-YUVA centre of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University financially supported by Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council is functioning in the Department of Plant Biotechnology from the year 2014. The mandate of this centre is to promote product oriented applied research and entrepreneurship among students and young researchers by offering fellowships. Towards selecting the E- YUVA fellows for this year, BIRAC launched a nationwide call inviting proposals under E-YUVA programme in the month of January 2022. TNAU E-YUVA centre received 93 proposals for E-YUVA fellows category (Undergraduate level) and 11 proposals under Innovation Fellows category (Postgraduate level). After eligibility screening and evaluation by the Technical Evaluation Panel (TEP), five E-YUVA teams and three BIRAC Innovation Fellows selected to work with TNAU E-YUVA centre. Four of the selected E-YUVA teams are from TNAU main campus, its constituent and affiliated colleges and one from Periyar University, Salem.
And, the Inauguration of E-YUVA fellowship programme was held on October 7, 2022. Dr. Chhaya Chauhan, Senior Manager, Bio Incubation, BIRAC, New Delhi and Ms. Harshita Bhawsar, Officer, Incubation & Entrepreneurship, BIRAC, New Delhi visited TNAU E-YUVA centre during the occassion. Dr. N. Senthil, Director (CPMB&B) delivered the welcome address. Dr. Tamizh Vendan, Registrar, TNAU and Dr. Chhaya Chauhan, Senior Manager, Bio Incubation, BIRAC, New Delhi jointly disbursed the selection orders to the selected E-YUVA student teams and Innovation Fellows selected to work with TNAU E-YUVA centre. The fellowship awardees briefed about their innovative ideas. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. L. Arul, Chief Coordinator, TNAU E-YUVA centre.
