About the Directorate
Centre for Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (CPMB&B), TNAU has been one among a few front-runners to initiate “Biotechnology” teaching. The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India is extending the financial support for the cause of manpower development since 1988. The CPMB&B was established in 1990 to take up research in plants based on cues from the science of Plant Molecular Biology. The centre has state of art facilities to carry out research and training in plant tissue culture, genetic and genome engineering, molecular markers, molecular ecology, Bioprospecting and NGS other Bioinformatics research.
About the Training
LC-MS /MS instrument separates chemical mixtures, identifies and quantify the particular compound or the members in its pathway and substrate of the enzymes. This instrument is primarily used in the metabolomics for the metabolite profiling using either targeted or non targeted approaches.
HPLC is used to separate and refine high-purity target compounds from a mixed solution after a synthetic reaction or from natural extracts. A preparative system HPLC is used to separate and collect high-purity compounds for subsequent evaluation, analysis, and processing in the shortest possible time. Photodiode Array (PDA) and Refractive Index Detectors (RID) for secondary metabolite analysis.
Target Participant
The participants (approximately 30 Nos) include faculty/scientists and students of PG, PhD from TNAU and other institutions of national level from Life Science stream. The registration fee is Rs. 3000/- + 18 % GST per participant totally (3540).
Training Content
The programme intends to impart hands on training to the participants on Applications of “LC-MS & HPLC” in Plant Metabolomics, sample preparation and analysis, interpretation of analysed data etc
