Plant Genomics in the Era of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence

Dr. Sumanth Mutte is currently the Founder and CEO of MyGen InformaticsPvt. Ltd., both in India and Netherlands. Prior to this, he worked as a post-doctoral fellow in the Department of Biochemistry at Wageningen University, Netherlands. He holds a B.Tech. in Bioinformatics [TNAU, Coimbatore] and an M.Sc. in Bioinformatics and Ph.D. from Wageningen University, Netherlands.

Dr. Sumanth’s primary research interests span Genomics and Bioinformatics (with a focus on Plant Sciences), Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS), Big Data Analysis and data management and database development. He has co-authored over 20 publications in reputed international journals such as Cell, Molecular Cell, Nature Plants and Cell Reports. He has participated in many national and international conferences. Notably, he received a ‘cum laude’ for his PhD thesis work on plant hormone evolution. He also received a University Research Award for his work published in eLife. With his company, MyGen Informatics, he strives to bridge the gap in the field of plant genomics by providing tailor made solutions for plant breeding and biotech companies through sequencing and bioinformatics.
