Molecular ecology is a field of biology that uses molecular genetic tools to study ecological questions. It’s all about understanding the relationship between genetic variation and the ecological processes – basically, how genes and the environment play together across individuals, populations, species, and ecosystem. Largely molecular ecology deals with genetic diversity, population structure and gene flow, phylogeography, adaption and natural selection, species interactions and molecular tools.
