Cotton – VPT 1
- High yielding hirsutum culture TVH 007 is developed at Cotton Research Station, Veppanthattai, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore.
- Released to central zone states of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan under rainfed conditions.
- In National trial (Br. 02 (b)) during the year 2019 -20, it registered the highest seed cotton yield of 1540 kg/ha which is 12.98 per cent increase over the quality check Suraj (1363 kg/ha).
- It ranked first in the Zonal trial (Br. 03 (b)) during the year 2020 -21 recording the seed cotton yield of 917 kg/ha registering 24.45 percent over Zonal check NH 615.
- It ranked first in the Zonal trial (Br. 04 (b)) during the year 2021-22 recording the seed cotton yield of 1861 kg/ha
- registering 16.67 per cent over quality check Suraj.
- In Agronomy trial, it recorded the highest yield of 2200 kg/ha under spacing of 60 x 22.5 cm and 125% nitrogen level (75: 30:30 NPK kg/ha).
- The proposed variety recorded the highest average lint yield of 549 kg/ha with more than 10.0 over the tested entries in all the three years (2019 -2022) including zonal and quality checks.
- It is resistant to diseases of Bacterial blight, Alternaria leafspot, Myrothecium leaf spot and greymildew.
- The culture is moderately resistant to Jassids.
