The 11th Scientific Advisory Committee Meeting of KVK, Papparapatty, Dharmapuri District was held on 11.02.2021 with the SAC members, line Department officials, Progressive farmers of KVK.

 

The 11th SAC meeting of KVK Dharmapuri was started by 10.30 AM with the above listed members and Dr. M. Jawaharlal, Director of Extension Education, TNAU, Coimbatore presided the meeting. Dr.C.Sivakumar, Programme Coordinator presented the action taken report on the recommendations of the tenth SAC meeting.

After the presentation the line department officials, farmer members of SAC and progressive farmers of KVK were suggested activities to be carried out by KVK, Dharmapuri for 2021-22.   Based on the suggestions given by the Director of Extension Education, TNAU, Dr. A. Bhaskaran, Principal Scientist, ATARI, Zone X, Hyderabad, line department officials, farmer members of SAC and progressive farmers the following recommendations have been finalized for execution by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Dharmapuri.

Dr. A. Bhaskaran, Principal Scientist, ATARI, Hyderabad in his special address appreciated the KVK team for better execution of work. He instructed to take up the action plan and to strengthen the farmers’ database maintained by KVK with addition of new farmers.Dr. M. Jawaharlal, Director of Extension Education, TNAU, Coimbatore in his concluding remarks stated that the KVK will carry out the suggestions given by the members. He has instructed the KVK scientists to work for the commercial success of the farmers by being a model commercial KVK. Dr.Veeranan Arun Giridhari, Assistant Professor (Food Science) welcomed the members of SAC and Dr. M. A. Vennila , Assistant Professor (Agrl. Extension) proposed vote of thanks.The Director of Extension Education visited demonstration units and farm. With the following suggestions for the improvement of KVK farm and demonstration units was made.

  • In situ grafting method should be carried out for tree redgram and seedling progeny also should be grown to compare the performance of both. University Research Project has to be prepared and sent for approval.
  • Thornless Bamboo should be planted in the B5 area.
  • Exposure visit should be carried out by the SMS (VAS) and PC, KVK, Dharmapuri to Adilabad KVK, Andhra Pradesh to study the commercial IFS model and implement it.
  • Jasmine mother plants should be maintained in one of Shadenet for propagation.
  • Bacillus subtilis liquid formulation to be applied in the farm.
  • Crop wise physiological interventions should be taken up in the farm
  • Planting of best turmeric variety alone may be taken up in the KVK Farm
