Centre for Post Harvest Technology was established as a multi-disciplinary research facility in April 2004 and is one of the constituent disciplines of Agricultural Engineering College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. Our strength lies on curiosity-driven value research and actively involvement in solving problems that have direct and immediate relevance to food industry and farming community.In the current scenario, minimizing the post-harvest losses and food waste and protecting the value chain of agricultural and horticultural food products is of great significance.  Therefore, the centre provides technology and infrastructural facilities for food processing and preservation, value addition and food quality and safety assurance.

In this centre teaching, research and extension are synergistic to each other. Since its inception, the centre had implemented more than 8 International and 16 National sponsored research projects. Skill training on Processing and value addition of foods are being continuously provided in this centre and the centre has a Food Processing Business Incubator with latest machinery and equipments  for commercial production of fruit and vegetable products, Milling unit for millets and a bakery unit,  to promote and facilitate  entrepreneurship in food processing.  The NABL accredited Food Quality Testing Laboratory functioning at CPHT is committed to good professional practice with emphasizes on improvements continuously in compliance with the ISO 17025:2005 standard.
