Since its founding in 1961, the Department of Agricultural Economics is acclaimed for its outstanding contributions in education, research, policy interfacing and capacity building activities. Being one of the leading departments in agricultural economics at national level, it is functioning to meet the huge expectations of the different stakeholders like academicians, policy makers, development personnel and farmers. To fulfill the requirements of the society, we have equipped our resources and faculty at par with global level.

We, at the Department of Agricultural Economics, endeavour to train the students both at national and international level to improve their understanding of economic theories and ability to apply for different domains of research. We are committed to make our students competent to face challenges in their professional activities.

We aim to conduct policy oriented research on different issues to prescribe policies to implement numerous programmes and projects for the betterment of the farming community. Our interest is to expand our reach to different stakeholders by organizing policy advocacy and dissemination workshops, and capacity building programmes.
