About

The Department of Agricultural and Rural Management (ARM) was started on 14th February 2001 keeping in view the demand for research and manpower inputs for the government and private sectors on various aspects of Agricultural and Rural Management. The thrust of the Department is to strengthen teaching, research and training in agribusiness and rural management.

The Department of Agricultural and Rural Management (ARM) offers B.S.(ABM), M.B.A. and PhD programme in Agribusiness management. Besides offers courses in Bachelors degree programmes in Agriculture, Horticulture, Food technology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics and Agricultural information technology

Undergraduate

The department offers separate undergraduate programme in agribusiness management apart from providing courses like entrepreneurship development and business management, capital and commodity market, project management, enterprise resource planning to other undergraduate degree programmes. This Department offers a four year UG programme on B.S. (Agribusiness Management). The graduates of the department are employed in agri-input industries, banking, insurance, retailing, food processing, etc. Many of the students pursue post graduate degrees in nationally reputed institutions like IIM, IRMA, MANAGE, NAARM, EDI, VAMNICOM, IIPM etc.

Postgraduate programme

Master of Business Administration (MBA – Agribusiness Management) is offered in the department since 2001. Earlier the degree was offered as MBM between 1988 and 2000. The programme has been recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) since 1994 with an intake of thirty students. The passed out students have been placed in input sectors, production, processing, transportation, packaging, logistics, supply chain, organized retail, banking, insurance, agri-clinics and consultancy sectors. Few of them have become entrepreneurs in agribusiness.

Doctoral programme

The Doctoral Programme in Management (Ph.D – Agribusiness Management) was started in the year 2009 and it is one of the preferred programmes for the ICAR students from various states of the country.  Special courses in management are offered through external experts from premier management institutes and industry.
