TECHNOLOGIES DEVELOPED

  • In Chilli Fertigation of 100% recommended dose of fertilizer as water soluble fertilizer recorded and highest dry fruit yield (4.05 t/ha & 3.91 t/ha during Kharif and Summer season) and the technology is highly profitable and economically viable for the cultivation of chillies
  • In chrysanthemum, application of 75% of recommended dose of fertilizer (RDF) along with 3% panchagavya increased flower yield and flower quality.
  • Seed sowing taken during November month recorded increased length of roots, fresh and dry weight of roots in Aswagantha and harvest the root at 180 days after planting improved total alkaloid and with a ferine content in the roots.
  • 75% of N&P, 100% of K with GA3 100pppm and Azospirillum & Phosphobacteria improved the total yield and shelf life of the fruits in Bhendi.
  • In tube rose, application of GA3 at 200ppm and 8-HQC (8-Hydroxy quinoline citrate) recorded and highest flower yield and maintained the maximum fresh weight of cut spikes.
  • Paired row planting system with 20& 10g of N&P per pit recorded the highest fruit yield and cost benefit ratio in pumpkin under rice fallow cultivation
  • Recommended dose of fertilizer (100 g of 6:12:12/pit)with biofertilizer (Azospirillum and Phosphobacteria 2.2kg/ha) recorded highest yield in MDU1 Bittergourd
  • 90 kg N: 90 kg P: 75 kg k of Sulphate of potash per ha significantly influenced the plant growth, flower yield and flower quality of African marigold cv MDU.1
  • Paclobutarzal (PP 333) at 20 ppm and Methanol 10% induced off season flowering in Jasminum sambac

Brinjal MDU-1 (1979)

  • Year of Release: 1979
  • Selection from local type near Madurai
  • The crop duration is 135-145 days
  • Adoptable to tropical plains of Tamil Nadu
  • The fruits are bright purple and each weighs of 280g/fruit
  • The crop yield per hectare is 34 tones
  • This variety is preferred in Madurai

Bitter Gourd MDU-1 (1984)

  • Year of Release: 1984
  • It is an induced mutant local cv MC103
  • It is in early flowering
  • The fruits are long with a length of 40cm & girth of 17.5cm
  • Each fruit weighs 410g
  • Each vine yields on an average of 16.66 fruits
  • The crop yield is 32.19t/ha
  • The fruit contains less seeds

Snake Gourd MDU-1 (1981)

  • Year of Release : 1985
  • It is a F1 hybrid 
  • Parentage between Panripudal and selection 1 from Thaniyamangalam 
  • The crop duration is 145 days 
  • It is an early flowering type (84 days) 
  • It produces 13 fruits / vine each weighing of 7.15kg/vine 
  • Average yield of 31.75t / ha 
  • The fruits are medium long (66.94cm) with white stripes under green back ground

  • Early flowering in 104 days
  • The flowers are large (dia 3.90cm), sulphur yellow in color
  • The crop total yield is 30.59t/ha/year in 2 crops (main & ratoon crop)

  • It is a selection from germplasm type 
  • The plants are medium tall with moderate branching 
  • The plants produces average of 97 flowers 
  • Each flower has 210 petals which are compactly arranged with stalk length of 8.39cm 
  • Each plant yields 561.40g flowers 
  • The crop total yield is 41.54 ton/ha 
  • The flower fetches premium price in the market
