About the Department
Family Resource Management and Consumer Science deals with the “Art and Science of Living”. Being a interdisciplinary field, it aims at improving the quality of life of families with focus on the individual, family and community at large. It includes the major field like interior design, economics, engineering, ergonomics and management to prepare students to be effective managers of the family and community to a greater extent.
In the context of changing scenario in all facets of society the curriculum of resource management is designed in such a way that it enables the students to develop professional competence for jobs in the private, public sector and to take up entrepreneurial ventures. Emphasis is laid on the management of resources, technological skills to create and change products and machines and research skills to broaden the knowledge base.
