Dr.M.P.Divya is holding the position of Professor and Head, Department of Forest Products and Wildlife.She belongs to first batch of B.Sc (Forestry) during the year 1985-89, M.Sc ( Forestry ) during the year 1989-91 and Ph.D (Forestry) during the year 1992-1995 at College of Forestry, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore. She joined as Assistant Professor (Forestry) on 30.01.1995 at Forest College and Research Institute, Mettupalayam. She has designed the course curriculum and syllabi for many forestry courses for undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral degree programme of Forestry. She has handled 48 UG courses, 21 PG and Ph.D courses. She has guided 8 M.Sc (For. And 2 Ph.D (For.) students and presently guiding one M.Sc and one Ph.D (For.) students.
Her field of specialization is Agroforestry. She has obtained 11 external funded projects from various national funding agencies and developed site-specific agroforestry models for timber, pulpwood, match wood and biofuel tree species. Presently she is involved in Forest Products based research. She has published more than 100 research articles including seminar and conference papers , authored 2 books and 8 technical bulletins.
She has organized and participated in various exhibitions arranged during Farmers’ day and Agri-Intex, Tree Growers’ Mela .She has delivered special lectures on agroforestry technologies to various extension functionaries. She has conducted various trainings to forest extension officers, agricultural and horticultural officers and farmers and conducted demonstrations, field day on various forest technologies in the farmers’ field.
She has received “Dr.Venkataraman Medal for the Best Student in Ph.D (Forestry) during 1997 ; The “Best Scientist award in Agroforestry” for the year 2001 and also the Best Woman Scientist award for the year 2005 by the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. I have also received the “Best Environmental Management Award” for the year 2003 by the Department of Environment, Government of Tamil Nadu and Tamil Nadu Young Woman Scientist Award for the year 2006.
