Central Farm Unit
The Genesis of Central farm Unit is 1906 and it is the oldest farm of erstwhile Agricultural College and Research Institute, Coimbatore. The central farm is the component of Department of Agronomy and contributed the research and development of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University through providing service to the students, researchers and farmers. The Central Farm unit comprised three farm sectors viz. Wetlands Farm, Eastern Block Farm and Yard. It was the centralized unit which facilitates various research activities of students and researchers of the University.
Vision
To serve as a knowledge centre for academic excellence in the area of graduate and post-graduate education and bestow human resource development in agricultural sciences
Mission
To help agricultural and industrial sectors to achieve core competence in crop research by developing new concepts and approaches of sustainable crop production
Mandate
- To function as an avenue for imparting education to students and to provide an environment for acquiring knowledge and hands on experience in agricultural education
- Imparting Earn While You Learn programme for under graduate students
- To undertake research on specific national and state problems of agricultural sector and to generate knowledge through relevant researches for developing a technology.
- To groom agricultural graduates and scholars for taking up the responsibilities of managing any form of agro based income generating, research and developmental activities.
- To offer training programmes for agri-business professionals, policy makers and entrepreneurs for improving decision making skills and administrative competence.
- To collaborate with other disciplines of the University for sharing the resources to fulfill the above objectives.
