Wetlands Farm

Wetland farms are having an area of 50.7 acres with net cultivable area of 40.5 acres. The predominant cropping system followed in the farm is green manure–rice–pulses. It acts as instructional farm for undergraduate and post graduate students. The following are the main activities.

  • Facilitating research activities of PG students, projects, schemes and new research activities in rice, green manure and rice fallow pulses.
  • Imparting training to farmers, extension personals, NGOs, students and other stake holders on advanced technologies of rice.
  • Developing organic farming practices in rice based cropping system.
  • Production of F1 hybrids, breeder and foundation seeds in rice and green manure.
  • Mass multiplication of seeds of newly released varieties and hybrids.

Eastern Block Farm

Eastern block farm is a versatile farm comprises of 69.8 acres of cultivable areas with the scope for undertaking research on irrigated and rainfed crops. Long term fertilizer experiments (LTFE) and irrigation cafeteria are maintained in the farm. Besides, the following are the major activities of the farm.

  • Facilitation of research of PG students, schemes and new research activities related to irrigated and rainfed crops.
  • Demonstration of crop and irrigation cafeteria.
  • Developing organic farming packages for upland crops.
  • Imparting training to farmers, students and stake holders regarding advanced technologies in irrigated and rainfed agriculture.
  • Seed production of maize and green manure crops.

Yard

  • Processing and sale of produces received from Eastern block and Wetland farms.
  • Preparation of daily memorandum sheet (DMS) of three farms and sending credit bills to departments / directorates.
  • Purchase and supply of agricultural inputs required for eastern block and wetlands.
  • Facilitation of supply of tools/inputs for UG and PG students.Well maintained vermicompost unit with the production potential of 350 t/annum utilizing all biodegradable wastes.
