Information and Training Centre

With a vision to cater the needs of the urban population to practice Urban Farming at Chennai and to liasion to Government, Urban Horticulture Development Centre was established under the aegis of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University during May 2000 at Kilpauk, Chennai.  The centre was renamed as “Tamil Nadu Agricultural University- Information and Training Centre” during 2011 and the Centre was shifted to Guindy, Chennai in 2018. The geographical location of the centre lies in 13⁰ 0’45.8651” N and 80⁰ 12’ 17.8931” E.

The TNAU Information and Training Centre is a situated in the headquarters of Tamil Nadu and is congenial for the urban population or Chennai metro. This is a full-fledged centre offering various training programmes for the urban and semi-urban people, in and around Chennai and co-ordinating its sister department with Government and Universities.

Mandate:

  • To serve as an information Centre for providing the hi-tech horticulture and agriculture technologies.
  • To impart need based training programmes on hi-tech horticulture, agriculture and allied subjects including value addition on agricultural and horticultural products to urban entrepreneurs, unemployed graduates, students, NGO’s, SHGs, corporate sector, house women etc.
  • Devising of hi-tech horticultural and agricultural projects and providing technological assistance to new entrepreneurs for promoting the horticultural and agricultural industry.
