History of Salem KVK
The The KRISHI VIGYAN KENDRA (KVK) – Salem sponsored by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Government of India was established in Sandhiyur, Salem District, Tamilnadu, India in the year 1994 with the major objective of Transfer of Technology in agriculture and allied fields. It is a multidisciplinary hub catering to the needs and aspirations of different stake holders from innovation to decision making process to adoption.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sandhiyur, Salem is situated in the Salem – Madurai National Highway (NH-7) at Sandhiyur village, Mallur Via. It is 12 Kms away from Salem town, its located at 11°33’N 78°08’E / 11.55°N 78.13°E . It has an average elevation of 293 m (Details below). Our KVK is one among the 14 KVKs of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University started in the year 1994 (28.3.94) to cater the needs and solve the problems of farmers of both Salem and Namakkal Districts. It is spread in an area of 9.95 ha with all infrastructure facilities (1.95 ha), demonstration units (1.0 ha), farm for cultivation of crops (4.0 ha) and agro forestry (3.0 ha)..
