Greetings! On behalf of the faculty members, staff, and students of the Department of Agricultural Microbiology, TNAU, Coimbatore, I welcome you all to the Department.
The Department has rich expertise in the field of Agricultural Microbiology and is currently working on Biofertilizer and quality control, Soil health and sustainability, Plant-Microbe interactions, Plant Microbiome, Microbial value additions, Biofuel, Environmental biotechnology and so on. The Department provides conducive environment to the students to learn, and to do research on Microbial resources.
The Department was recognized by ICAR as ‘Centre of Advanced Studies in Agricultural Microbiology’ and offering 21-days HRD training annually. The Department was also awarded as ‘Centre of Excellence’ by Ministry of Human Resource Development and offered research scheme on Plant-Microbe Interaction. This Department is one of the Centres for ICAR’s ‘All India Network Project on Soil Biodiversity and Biofertilizers’. We have external funded projects from ICAR, DBT, DST, BRNS, and so on. Our Department also acts as advisory and technology updating institute for State Biofertilizer production units of Agriculture Department, Tamil Nadu.
