- To offer Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry courses to various degree programmes
- To carry out fundamental and applied research in Soil Resource Inventory & Pedology, Soil Physics, Soil Chemistry, Soil Fertility & Plant Nutrition, Isotopic Research & Agricultural Chemistry
- To develop soil test and crop based technologies for increasing the productivity and sustaining soil health
- To assess the quality of surface and underground waters
