Unique Programmes

The following special interventions can definitely make the college a step forward from other newly established colleges.

        Agri-Horti society at AC&RI,Keezhvelur was declared open by Dr. A. ArunThamburaj, IAS, Collector, Nagapattinam District with the gracious presence of Thiru. M. Selvarasu, Member of Parliament, Nagapattinam. The society has pioneered to instrument bridging the scope for cultivation of field and horticultural crops like greens, vegetables and fruits. The studens produce their own veggies for their mess.

     Medical camp was organized for students of the institute to sensitize about their health issues in association with DD (Health) of Nagapattinam district. The programme also enlightened the students to be aware of their health status educating them the necessity of adequate nutritious food, clean drinking water, danger and the risk of environmental pollution. Conducting the camp for students also aimed at providing free tests for diabetes, blood pressure, haemoglobin etc., besides providing counselling for students by trained doctors and their own friends. The District Social Welfare Officer also paid visit to the hostel premises to enquire on their well being.

The fitness centre bloomed at this institute for effective management of health, recreational and social facilities geared on exercise, sports, yoga and other physical activities. The fitness centre has collaborated with district sports authority to accommodate the outdoor sports activities with features such as a running track, swimming pool, volley ball court and sport playing ground. The district stadium is being used by our College students exclusively on Sunday Morning.

          To create environmental awareness and love for nature, the biodiversity club is being organised by the institute, in collaboration with the District Forest Officer. The students are involved in maintaining the biodiversity of the campus and they also join with the district forest officer’s team in documenting the birds and animals in the district.

      The institute inculcates the habit of listening to daily news by the student community. The radio news is played in the loud speakers in the hostels and ground for the students from 5.30 AM to 6.30 AM and 6.30 PM to 7.30 PM every day.

 

         The students run their mess with a motto “Feel the Home, Feed the Nation”. They ensure that No food is wasted.

            The clean campus is achieved through Swachh Bharat initiative of the institute. The main reason behind this programme was to realize the vision of Mahatma Gandhi of making India the cleanest country in the world. The students regularly clean the college premises.

Voice of Parents Club

                 The Parent – Teacher – Student relationship is strengthened by the Voice of Parent Club. The feedback in the form of voice messages are received from the parents and maintained by the club.

November 18, 2022 turned out to be a special day in Agricultural College and Research Institute, Keezhvelur, Nagapattinam by the visit of Mr. T. Abraham IAS, Special Secretary to the Government, Dept. of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare; Dr. A. Arun Thamburaj, IAS, District Collector, Mr. Banoth Mrugender Lal, IAS, Assistant Collector, Nagapattinam district.

The trio visited the campus to review the facilities available at the AC&RI, Nagapattinam which was established on April 18, 2022. The status of land acquisition was discussed in length.
