Unique Programmes

The following special interventions can definitely make the college a step forward from other newly established colleges.

Agri Horti society at AC&RI,Keezhvelur was declared open by Dr.A.ArunThamburaj,District Collector,Nagapattinam with the gracious presence of Th.M.Selvarasu, Member of Parliament,Nagapattinam.The society has pioneered to instrument bridging the scope for cultivation of field and horticultural crops to suit urban women kitchen.The programme would provide further impetus to education and research on roof top gardening in the district. On the occasion, the students had sown seeds of vegetablecrops at roof top premises of the institute.

Medical camp was organized for students of the institute to sensitize about their health issues in association with DD (Health) of Nagapattinam district.The programme also enlightened the students to be aware of their health status educating them the necessity of adequate nutritious food, clean drinking water, danger and the risk of environmental pollution. Conducting the camp for students also aimed at providing free tests for diabetes, blood pressure, haemoglobin etc., besides providing counselling for students by traineddoctors and their own friends.The District Social Welfare Officer also paid visit to the hostel premises to enquire on their well being.

The fitness centre bloomed at this institute for effective management of health, recreational and social facilities geared on exercise, sports, yoga and other physical activities. The fitness centre has collaborated with district sports authority to accommodate the outdoor sports activities with features such as a running track, swimming pool, volley ball court and sport playing ground. The district stadium is being used by our College students exclusively on Sunday Morning.

The institute also facilitated the mobile ATM (IOB) for students to withdraw cash using card of any Bank on a bi-weekly basis.

Solar water heater facility and mosquito net on windows were provided for both boys and girls hostel for effective management of the winter season. The students were provided with herbal drink in morning with compulsory attention to gardening besides reading dailies.

The students have been inculcated the habit of utilizing food to the maximum and reducing mess waste to the minimum. In this attempt, the waste generated from the Hostels are weighed separately in boys and girls hostel and displayed in the mess noticeboard. This will kindle the young minds on waste reduction besides generate a feedback on the menu for each day.

As part of Swacch Bharat activity students of this college gathered for cleaning drive at AC & RI premises. The main reason behind this programme was to realize the vision of Mahatma Gandhi of making the India the cleanest country in the world. The students started the cleanliness drive by picking up the brown and cleaning the college premises and dirty places nearby.

November 18, 2022 turned out to be a special day in Agricultural College and Research Institute, Keezhvelur, Nagapattinam. by the visit of Mr. T. Abraham IAS, Special Secretary to the Government, Dept of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare; Dr. A. Arun Thamburaj, IAS, District Collector, Mr. Banoth Mrugender Lal, IAS, Assistant Collector, Nagapattinam district.

The trio visited the campus to review the facilities available at the AC& RI, Nagapattinam which was established on April 18, 2022. The status of land acquisition was discussed in length.
