Technologies Developed:
Apart from ad-hoc research projects, the external funded schemes from Ford Foundation, New Delhi, ICAR, New Delhi, ODA of UK & NABARD, State Bank of India, State Planning Commission, Chennai, ICRISAT, Hyderabad, NADP and FMC were undertaken by the Department. Economic analysis on important crops of Southern Tamil Nadu, Socio Economic survey on Rural households, Equity and productivity in Periyar-Vaigai irrigation system, coping behaviour to water scarcity, credit for rural development, Role of Rural Women in development activities are some of the studies undertaken by this Department with the funding support of sponsors. The Department also had undertaken research projects in the areas of Development Economics, environmental Economics, Fishery Economics and Agri business Management. So far, the department has completed thirty five research projects including sixteen externally funded research projects
