HoD's Desk:

The Department of plant protection at Horticultural College & Research Institute for Women, Tiruchirappalli is functioning with the objectives of teaching, research and extension. Faculty comprising of agricultural entomology and plant pathology. Plant protection courses in agricultural entomology and pathology are being offered to students of B.Sc. (Hons.) Horticulture. In the experience learning course, students are exposed to mass production of Pseudomonas, Trichoderma, Bacillus, Trichogramma and Chrysoperla. The experiential learning course offered mainly to impart knowledge and confidence in order to motivate the students to become entrepreneurs.  The entomologist is involved in PG  teaching and guidance.  Research activities are mainly focused on region specific crops like bhendi, onion, jasmine and use of bioagents. The scientist are also guiding the UG students every year for their project   work on location specific and need based researchable issues. The recommendations on disease and pest management are taken care by the scientists of the plant protection department.
