Students Hostel Details

Students were accommodated in the newly constructed boys and girls hostels viz., “Thenpennai Boys Hostel” and “Gomuki Girls Hostel”, respectively during December 2017. The students hostels consisting of 49 spacious rooms (Boys) & 72 rooms (girls hostel).  students were accommodated comfortably with three persons per room for both the hostels.

In the newly constructed hostel a common modernized kitchen with multiple facilities has been developed. The mess is run on dividing system basis where the students themselves purchasing and issuing the groceries, vegetables, etc everyday in the early morning. A chief cook, two assistant cooks and five lady helpers assisting for cooking and serving hygienic, healthy and tasty food to the hostel inmates as shift basis. The per day rate of the mess for the past six months does not exceed
Rs.55-60/day, which includes morning tea with break-fast, lunch, evening snacks with tea/coffee and night dinner with fruits. Vegetables, fruits and other items are purchased from different stores in and around Thiruvannamalai which were selected based on the competitive quotations by opted to the lowest cost.

Considering the welfare of the students, Hostel Management Committee was constituted and headed by our Dean. Four such meetings were held once during September 2017, February 2018, September 2018 and August 2019. Actions were taken according to the issues and needs of the students. Considering the health of the students and as per their taste preference, the mess menu is changed once in three months. Each and Every academic year the hostel day was conducted from the students hostel premises itself and it will be continued in the subsequent years.

The boys & girls hostel and the mess premises are provided with safe and clean drinking water, TV room and Reading room, musical system attached dining hall, landline facility, separate two wheeler shed, Pest “O” Flash, Hot water plate sterilizer,   electric generator and water heater and modernized Gym materials. To take care of the health of the students a dispensary unit has been set up with a Medical Officer, Pharmacist and a Nursing Assistant. Facilities for laundry, ironing, saloon and cycle repairing are provided nearby the hostel premises on payment basis. To entertain and to keep the students fit, during evening hours separate basket ball court are constructed in boys and girls hostel premises. The hostel premises were closely monitored under CCTV surveillance for safety and security purpose. Students were involved in all the purchases and run their mess with close monitoring of the entire hostel unit.

The hostel premises were beautified and greenery plants were planted as indoor and outdoor premises. The important shade loving, ornamental and flower blooming and fruit trees were planted for the students recreation and mind refreshment.

The Welfare of students is taken care of by the Warden, Dr. M. Devanathan and Deputy Warden (Girls), Dr. E. Jamuna. The hostel purchases are closely monitored and efficiently done by Dr. V. Radhakrishnan, Deputy Warden (Purchase) and maintenance of Hostel accounts viz., collection of mess bills, working out the monthly mess bill are done by Dr. B. Sivakumar, Deputy Warden (Accounts) with the help of the Hostel supporting Staffs Mrs .S. Sathyakala and Mrs. C. Kalaiarasi. Two Residential Tutors (Mr. K. Suresh and Dr. A. Krishnaveni) along with the students in the hostel and looking after the welfare of the inmates.

The hostel vouchers and bills are regularly monitored by the Chief Warden and Warden and the same will be taken for auditing purpose by the Private Charted Accountant for every year. The audit report will be produced after the auditing and the same will be filed in the hostel office.

Students Centre

Students centre was established during October 2017 with seed money of
Rs. 40,000/-, which was borrowed from the Students Hostel, AC&RI, Vazhavachanur. The amenities viz., stationeries, Healthy snacks items, Cosmetics, Ice creams and other students needs were fulfilled from the students centre. The centre will be utilized by the students effectively, so as to fulfill their daily needs and to restrict the movement of students from outside the campus area. Out of Rs. 40,000/- seed money, a sum of Rs. 20,000/- have been repaid on 16.11.2018 as first installment and Second installments of Rs, 20,000/- repaid on 25.04.2019 and it shows the successful running of the students centre. The students representatives are also utilized during evening hours without affecting their curriculum. For that, each students are getting a sum of
Rs. 12.50/- hour as remuneration fee.

            A Xerox unit is functioning at Farm Complex under the supervision of Chief Warden and it will be highly useful for the students community.
