Mission

  • Evolving drought and saline tolerant varieties suitable for rainfed condition.
  • Conduct research on soil health and fertility management.
  • Developing land management and agronomic technologies suitable for dryland crops.
  • Focusing on weather based crop planning and plant protection strategies for rainfed crops.

Objectives

  1. To identify and screen high yielding rice varieties for rainfed direct seeding
  2. To develop agro techniques for rainfed direct seeded rice crop
  3. To identify suitable Agro forestry crops for coastal eco system
  4. To identify suitable Horticultural crops for coastal eco system

Additional Mandates

  1. Development of technologies for the management of saline water
  2. Development suitable techniques for low cost sub surface drainage system to cultivate ID crops
