Community Radio Station: (VIVASAYEE SAMUDHAAYA VANOLI 107.4 MHz)
Transfer of technology plays a vital role in increasing the farm productivity, resulting in enhanced profits to the small and marginal farmers. Mass medium is very effective in widespread of farm technologies. Among the mass media, radio renders tremendous support for the large scale adoption of agro technologies for the benefit of farming community.
To fully address the local needs of the community, emerged Community Radio- ‘Voice of the Voiceless’ , need centric and need based.
One such initiative is “TNAU Vivasayee CRS 107.4 MHz”, set up with the aide of Media Lab Asia in collaboration with World Development Foundation, New Delhi under the aegis of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
It is functioning since December 2010 with a reach of 15 kms radius covering approximately 22 villages with more than 10000 farm families. Currently, the transmission is for two hours (10.00 AM to 12.00 noon).
