Born in Nazareth, Tuticorin District, Tamil Nadu, India on 17th May 1965. Educated at St. Mark’s Higher Secondary School, Mukuperi, Tuticorin District,1976-78; St. John’s Girl’s Higher Secondary School, Nazareth, Tuticorin District, Tamil Nadu 1979-82.
Served as administrator, teacher, researcher, extension officer and Breeder seed producer at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University for thirty-four years and ten months from 1989 to till date. Served as Academic council member of TNAU, Chairman Board of studies Horticulture, member of Board of studies Agriculture and PG studies steering committee member of ODL courses and Faculty and Technical Dean of (Horticulture) Horticultural college and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore from 2022 to till date. Handled UG, PG, Ph.D., part time Ph.D. courses for twenty-three years and four months and guided twenty M.Sc. and nine Ph.D. students as Chairman and Eleven undergraduate projects as a guide and prepared 12 manuals, released 22 books with ISBN (English and Tamil) and 11 book chapters with ISBN. Developed Six varieties and Three technologies. Published 125 research articles (National and international scientific journals with high value impact factor and Scopus indexed journals) and 50 research abstracts of scientific presentation. Twelve national and international awards inclusion of life time achievement and academic excellence award were secured and also served as a Nominee Chairman of Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board for selection and career advancement of scientists of Directorate of Onion and Garlic Research, Pune (ICAR) and Directorate of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Research, Anand, Gujarat, Institutional management committee member of National Research Centre of Banana, Trichy. Served as Accreditation committee member for Rani Laxmi Bai Central Agriculture University, Jhansi and Central University of Tamil Nadu, Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu. Obtained accreditation to B.Sc (Hons) Horticulture degree programme of HC & RI, Coimbatore. Handled 17 University Research Projects, eight externally funded projects, four All India Coordinated Research Projects (AICRP) and administrative controlling officer of All India Coordinated Research Project on Palms (AICRP-Palms), fruits crops, vegetable crops, flower crops and medicinal and Aromatic crops at HC & RI,TNAU,Coimbatore, Horticulture and Research Stations of TNAU. At present working as a Dean (Horticulture), Horticultural College and Research Institute, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore for the past one and a half years. Organized international, national conference, seminars, training programmes, workshops and guest lectures for farmers, scientists and students benefits. Organized 6th flower show of TNAU, Coimbatore. Conferred with Fellow of Indian society of vegetables, Executive councilor of Indian Society of Vegetable Science, Indian Society for Spices, Indian Society of Seed spices, Indian Society of Alliums and President of Society for Promotion of Horticulture Science and Technology.
