The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) had its genesis from establishment of an Agricultural School at Saidapet, Madras, Tamil Nadu, as early as 1868 and it was later relocated at Coimbatore.

Educational Media Centre (EMC)
The Educational Media Centre (EMC) of TNAU is responsible for video documentation of agricultural technologies, important programmes and events of the University.
The main activity of EMC
- Production of video programmes on various technologies and disseminates the technologies through DVDs, TNAU TV You Tube Channel, Agri Tech. Portal, Whatsapp Videos and Telecast through DDK etc
- Production of sponsored programmes for Government of India, State Government, NGOS and Private Agencies.
- Documentation of Farmer's success stories for telecast and video shows.
- Dissemination of Videos on Agro-based technology through Social Media and Video streaming sites for wider reach.
