The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) had its genesis from establishment of an Agricultural School at Saidapet, Madras, Tamil Nadu, as early as 1868 and it was later relocated at Coimbatore.

Farmer’s Residency is functioning under the control of the Directorate of Extension Education with a prime objective of providing accommodation facility to the farmers and students besides arranging meetings/ trainings for the benefit of farmers/ extension functionaries.
The farmers and students from different parts of Tamil Nadu and other states visiting Tamil Nadu Agriculture University are regularly seeking accommodation.
It has a training hall with seating capacity 100 numbers. It is also equipped with public address system, LCD projector facility with Air conditioner.
