Greetings from the Department of Physical Science and Information Technology (PS&IT) at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore. I am Dr. Balaji Kannan, Professor and Head of this department. The Department of PS&IT came into existence in 2002 under the administrative control of Dean, Agricultural Engineering College & Research Institute (AEC&RI), TNAU, Coimbatore. This department offers courses on Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Computer Science. The main objectives of the department are
- To impart quality education in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, and Computer Science to the undergraduate and postgraduate students of Agricultural and allied domains.
- To conduct research in the areas of Mathematical Modeling, Simulation, Optimization, Statistical Analysis, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, Blockchain Technology, etc., for solving various problems in agriculture and allied sectors.
The department has well-qualified and experienced faculty members who are actively involved in teaching, research, extension, and administration. The department has well-equipped computer laboratories with state-of-the-art facilities and software.
