Nematology HoD’s Desk

Welcome to the webpage of Department of Nematology, CPPS, TNAU, Coimbatore. The Department works with the objective of addressing challenges faced by the farming community due to nematode problems in field and horticultural crops. Department of Nematology has six faculty members and 13 masters, and doctoral students and one PDF student. It is well-equipped to perform cutting edge research, not only by virtue of central instrumental facilities of our University and Department, but also because of facilities built by individual faculty members. Our faculty members also engage extensively in outreach activities that benefit of farmers. The Department of Nematology, TNAU, Coimbatore was identified for its expertise in teaching techniques, such as sampling, extraction of nematodes, identification of nematodes at zoom and compound microscopes, microtome sectioning, EPN baiting and mass culturing in India. Coimbatore center has been identified as the competent center for distributing bioagents to other AICRP centers for conducting trials. The Department of Nematology, TNAU, Coimbatore has been offering UG and PG courses in Nematology. The students are made to equip themselves in all areas of this subject and given coaching to clear competitive exams such as National Eligibility Test, ARS etc.
