So far 228 undergraduate and 92 post graduates students has passed out and occupied good positions across various sectors. We are undertaking research activities on five major themes viz., crop improvement, crop management, crop protection in Mulberry, Silkworm rearing and Management and Value addition of mulberry products and developed many technologies to address the needs of sericulture farmers. We are having many research collaborations with stakeholder’s viz., Central silk board, DBT, DST, DSIR, NABARD, State Government Departments and other government and non-governmental agencies. The department is having well sophisticated laboratories, sufficiently equipped with modern research facilities to carry out the research in sericulture and allied subjects. A well-equipped silkworm rearing and silk reeling unit with multi-end reeling machine is also available for providing hands-on training to students, farmers and extension functionaries.
On behalf of staff and students of the Department I extend my warm welcome to all.
