Establishment
- Regional Research Station, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Aruppukottai was established in the year 1981
- This station was started to cater the needs of farmers of southern agro-climatic zone comprising of Virudhunagar, Tuticorin, Ramnad, Sivagangai, Tirunelveli and part of Madurai, Dindigul and Theni districts.
- As the lead centre for dryland crops, it coordinates research activities with the Agricultural Colleges, Horticultural College and Research Stations located in the aforesaid districts.
