Title of the Workshop
Skill Development Program on “Molecular modeling and Docking”
MANUAL
About the Workshop
Computational modeling has gained an increasingly important role in biochemical and biomolecular sciences over the past decades. This is related to significant developments in terms of methodology and software, as well as the amazing technological advances in computational hardware, and fruitful connections across different disciplines. Bioinformatics tools including Modeling, docking and protein-protein interaction can be employed to search the important genes for specific function or manipulate the sequence for better fit and study the function of these genes or protein at the system level. In an agriculture-dependent country like India, bioinformatics has a very important role to play where it can be used for improving the nutritional content, increasing the yield of the agricultural produce and implanting resistance to several biotic and abiotic stresses
Modeling and docking analysis has wide applications are involved in Entomology, Pathology, Microbiology and Pathology studies
- Host pathogen interaction studies of many plant diseases
- Insect resistance to pesticides/Agrochemicals
- Studies on herbicides tolerance
- Structure and function of biological molecules for example functional characterization of millet prolamin promoters in rice
- Metabolites by the bacterial endophytes confer resistance to various plant diseases
