Short Bio

Currently working as Senior Scientist (HP-Crop Improvement) at Alliance Biodiversity-CIAT. Coordinating CGIAR and NARS biofortification breeding projects in Asia, Africa and LA.

Previously as Sorghum Breeder at ICRISAT focused on breeding of hybrid parents, varieties meant for grain, forage, high biomass and sweet sorghum for Asia regions. Traits development and germplasm enhancement for breeding in Asia and Africa (ESA & WCA). Pearl Millet breeder for 12 years specialized in OPV and Hybrid developments (CMS lines), led the millet biofortification research globally (India and West and Central Africa), besides strengthening research partnership in India and Africa. Led the hybrid and varieties development, testing in association with NARS.  Released about 10 cultivars and developed >1000 elite breeding lines for a various product profile. Mentored students and post-docs. Published several research articles, reviews and book chapters.
