Organizational Structures and Purpose

Research Institutes, Directorates, and Stations of TNAU are established across Tamil Nadu to cater the needs of students and farmers. Research Institutes are created at Colleges to facilitate collaborative multi-disciplinary research between different faculties and to provide research-related facilities to the postgraduate students/scholars and scientists. Directorates were established at the main campus to coordinate the discipline-wise research activities and each directorate is under the control of a Technical Director. The Technical Director of each directorate is responsible for evolving research action plan of the concerned discipline covering all the Research Institutes, Departments under each Directorate and Research Stations. Research Stations are non-academic or administrative units established for the purposes of facilitating location specific research and collaborative research to evaluate and validate cultures of cultivars and technologies across varying environments before they are taken to the Adaptive Research Trials. The purposes of Research Institutes, Directorates, and Stations encompass but are not limited to facilitating collaborative research, especially multi-disciplinary research, and facilitating multi-university initiatives.
