Objectives

To provide First- Aid for the patients during their sudden illness.  All emergency care is given to the students, staffs and labors. A special care is given to the girl’s students and women’s staff regarding their health issues arising.

Nearly 8,654 patients (From Nov’13-Jan’19) were benefited regarding their health issues. (ie) for Medical Management, Nursing Care, Psychological Support, Guidance and Counseling.

Infrastructure

Building consisting of three rooms, an outpatient room, Pharmacy & ward with toilets (Separate for male / female patients) Wards & toilets have been renovated & constructed from ICAR grants of Rupees 5.5 Lakhs

Pharmacy

All medicines are purchased from TNMSC, Ltd.,Trichy.

  • Basic medicines like Antipyretics, Antibiotics, Antispasmodics, Antiulcerants, Antidiarrheals, Antiemetic etc., are available.
  • Facilities for giving I.V. injections and fluids available.
  • Suture needles and suture materials are available for doing minor suturing.

Activities

  • Our Dispensary is registered under Clinical Establishment (Regulation) Act, 1997, by the Directorate of Medical and Rural Health Services, Chennai, for a single practitioner to provide services under allopathic system of Medicine.
  • An Agreement was signed between M/S Medicare Enviro Systems, Thanjavur on 2019 and renewed on 2023 for the Disposal of Bio-Medical Waste for three years, as per Tamil Nadu pollution control board norms.
  • One time Authorization from the Pollution control board was obtained for M/S Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College and Research Institute for generation, segregation, collection, storage, packing and disposal of Bio-Medical waste on 11/12/2020.
  • Personal Medical History of the students is collected during the admission for the future reference in case of emergency.
  • Menstrual card is provided to the female students to track their menstrual cycle
  • Blood pressure monitoring and Diabetic chart are maintained for the Hypertensive and Diabetic patients.
  • First aid kit was issued to the hostels for student’s emergency use.
  • Weekly Iron and Folic acid Supplements (WIFS) and De-worming tablets (twice yearly) were given to the students. Around 400 students are getting benefitted.
  • Sanitary napkins were distributed to the First and Second year students (each three sets) of both the college, under the scheme of “Menstrual Hygiene Program” to promote menstrual hygiene in adolescent population. Around 350 students are getting benefitted.
  • Health education on the illness was given to the patient attending the dispensary.

Medical Camp Activities

  • For the health benefits of staff and students, An Awareness program on “Prevention of common flu and winter illness” was conducted in collaboration with Primary Health Center, Innamkulathur. Nilavembu Kudineer Kasayam was distributed. Question on “Dengue and its prevention” and also the “Benefits of taking Kashayam” were explained to the beneficiaries. About 220 members (including staff and students) were benefitted through this program (25/09/2017).
  • For the mental and emotional wellbeing of the students an awareness lecture on “De-Stress” was given by Dr.Kamaraj, District Siddha Medical officer and his team members, Dr.Isaiamuthu (yoga & Naturopathy), Dr.Selvakumar (Ayurvedha), Dr.V.Shanthi (Siddha) (11/11/2017).
  • To make the basic “Health awareness for all” a free medical camp was organized by the Medical Dispensary with the support of NSS volunteers of ADAC&RI at Samuthiram. An Awareness lecture on “Diabetes and Hypertensive Care” was given to the members attended the camp (26/05/2018).
    • Around 250 members benefitted through this camp.
    • 75 patients diagnosed as Hypertensive
    • 5 members as cataract
    • 2 members were referred for injury
    • Others treated for common illness.
  • An Awareness program on “National Deworming Day” was conducted. Deworming Tablets were distributed to the students (under the age of 19 years) in their class room. Medical officer explained about the causes of worm infestations, their effects and possible ways to control them. Around 150 students got benefitted through this program (08/02/2019 & 14/02/2019).
  • With support of NSS volunteers of ADAC&RI, conducted a free medical camp at Samudram, Manaparai. An Awareness lecture on “Tips to beat the Summer and Preventive Measures to Combat the Diseases” were explained to the members. Around 90 member got benefitted through this program (28/05/2019).
  • Dengue Awareness program was conducted in ADAC&RI .A team consist of Entomologist from District Director of Health Services explained about the etiology, mode of transmission, symptoms and prevention of Dengue, to the students and staff of ADAC&RI. They showed a video on Dengue, for education purpose. Around 450 students were benefitted through this program (24/07/2019).
  • Nilavembu Kudineer Kasayam was distributed to the students and staff of both the college for three consecutive days

  • Special lecture on “DE-STRESS” was given to the NSS volunteers in the seminar hall, (04/01/2020).
  • On WORLD GIRL CHILD DAY a power point presentation on “Cervical Care” was presented to the students of ADAC&RI campus (25/01/2020).
  • Special lecture on “Womens health” was given on International women’s Day (06/03/2020).
  • “An Awareness program on corona virus” was conducted for the students and staff, of both the college in the Auditorium, with the chief guest Dr. Sharmili Mathuram, Sr.Asst.Surgeon, Trichy City Corporation. She explained about the effects of the Corona virus on human body and its prevention techniques were explained. Hand washing techniques were demonstrated (10/03/2020).
  • Awareness on Corona virus was given to the farm workers (both the college) in their respective muster. Hand washing techniques are explained and demonstrated (12/03/2020).
  • Medical Dispensary registered under the Clinical Establishment (Regulation) Act, 1997, for a single practitioner to practice allopathy system of medicine, after the inspection of the officials from Directorate of medical and rural health services, Chennai (20/03/2020).
  • Regularly thermal scanning has done for all the staff, students and labourers of the college
  • On demand basis sanitizers are made and distributed to college and various departments to maintain hand hygiene.
  • Cotton face mask was distributed to all the farm workers to maintain the respiratory hygiene in their respective Muster for both the college (29/05/2020).
  • Multivitamin tablets and zinc tablets were distributed to all the staff, laborers to build their immunity against Covid -19 periodically. Around 7,000 Nos. of Multi vitamin tablets and 2,200 Nos. Zinc tablets were distributed to the staff and students of both the college (09/07/20, 10/09/20, 12/10/20, 19/11/20 and 24/06/21).
  • By joining hands with PHC, Inamkulathur (Siddha unit) Kabasura kudineer distribution was inaugurated by Dean Dr. P. Masillamani,Ph.D., to all the Staffs & field workers of ADAC&RI,Trichy. Benefits of kabasura kudineer was explained by Dr.Bharathi, Siddha Medical Officer, PHC, Inamkulathur,Trichyon (2020-2022)
  • Kabasura Kudineer was distributed to all the students, staff and labourers every month for 3-5consecutive days
  • For the mental well-being of students and to cope up with the unexpected stressful situation during COVID, delivered a webinar on the topic “Freedom from Stress – is not too far” to the undergraduate students of TNAU on the Independence Day. Various stressful events due to Covid and their solutions were discussed in this program (15/08/2020).
  • Authorization from the Pollution control board was taken for M/S Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College and Research Institute for generation, segregation, collection, storage, packing and disposal of Bio-Medical waste (11/12/2020).
  • Students attending RAWE program were given awareness on “First –aid measures to be taken in an emergency and precaution to be taken against covid-19”. Multivitamin tablets were distributed to the students to build their immunity against Covid -19.This awareness program will be conducted every year for the students attending the RAWE program (11/02/2021).
  • A series of Covid vaccination camp was conducted in association with PHC, Innamkulathur, in the Auditorium for staff, students and labourers of both the college.
  • Awareness was given to all the labourers regarding “Importance of getting vaccinated and effects of vaccine”

  • Covid Swab Test was taken for the final year students of HC&RI (W) and to the staff of both the college for prevention of Covid, in the Auditorium, with the support of Primary Health Centre, Innamkulathur .Totally 90 samples taken. No students were found to be positive except one staff (21/04/2021).
  • Organized Covid vaccination for the labourers of both the college at Community hall, Innamkulathur .Totally 45 people were benefitted in this drive(25/06/2021).
  • Organized Covid vaccination for staff and labourers of both the college at National Law College, Navalurkuttapattu. Around 13 members got benefitted (26/07/2021).
  • Every year, a lecture on “Self Hygiene” was given to the first year student of both the college separately. General health care, self hygiene, preventive steps against Covid -19 are included in that lecture.
  • Kabasura Kudineer was distributed to all the students, staff and labourers of ADAC&RI and HC&RI (W) for three consecutive days periodically, in the respective college entrance and lecture hall entrance, to combat against Covid -19 and other seasonal flu. Distributed on following dates: (20/01/22, 21/01/22 & 24/01/2022,15/02/22 To17/02/22,26/04/2022 to 28/04/2022,25/05/2022 to 27/05/2022).
  • Menstrual Hygiene Day was conducted on 28.5.23. Dr.O.Ajitha, Medical Officer delivered the “Awareness on Menstrual Hygiene”. They were educated about the process of menstrual cycle and various ways to manage the menstruation. Social and cultural taboos were discussed. Long term and short term risk involved in the poor management of menstrual cycle was explained.
  • Covid Vaccination Camps were conducted on 4.3.22 and 22.7.22 in the Auditorium, in association with PHC, Innamkulathur, for students, staff and labourers of ADAC&RI and HC&RI (W). Around 32 and 188 members (Students-113, Staff-20, Labourers-46, relatives of staff-9) got benefitted through respective camps.
  • By joining hands with PHC, Innamkulathur, as per the guidelines of the Director of public Health and Preventive Medicine, Chennai, under the “Special Intensified Menstrual Hygiene Programme and Anemia Prevention Programme campaign” weekly Iron and Folic acid Supplements(WIFS) were distributed for the first year and second year students of ADAC&RI and HC&RI (W), Trichy, to reduce the prevalence of Nutritional Anemia in adolescent population. The tablets were distributed weekly once for eight weeks. Sanitary napkins were also distributed to the girls (three packs each), to improve the menstrual hygiene. Around 128 students got benefitted through this program.
  • A Free Eye Camp was organized by the Medical Dispensary, ADAC&RI in association with Vasan Eye Care Hospital, Trichy, for the Staff and labourers of ADAC&RI and HC&RI(W), in the Auditorium of the campus on 23.9.22. The Ophthalmologist and his team, conducted the vision test for the staff and labourers of the campus. Refractive error was checked with Automated Refractometer followed by snellen’s chart and Jaeger’s chart. Corrective glasses were prescribed for members identified with refractive error. Total beneficiaries -134 members, Cataract -11, Pterygium-8 were diagnosed and advised for surgery. Blood pressure screening was done, as a part of this camp and patients with high blood pressure were sensitized for further follow up. General points on eye care were explained to the patients.
  • C. Vanniarajan, Dean, ADAC&RI, Trichy distributed free spectacles on 16.11.22 to the labourers of ADAC&RI. Spectacles were distributed according to their eye power checked during the eye camp conducted in our campus.15 labourers got benefitted through this.
  • A Mental health awareness program was organized on 30.11.22 for the students of ADAC&RI and HC&RI (W), in the Auditorium by the Medical Dispensary, ADAC&RI. Dr.R.Anbazhagan, Psychiatrist, Government Hospital, Manaparai gave speech on the topic “There is Hope, Even when your Brain says isn’t”. The program emphasized on 3’SStress, Suicidal Thoughts and Substance abuse. The students were educated on managing the inner thoughts, ways to overcome stress in healthy way, importance of avoiding drugs and necessity of seeking psychological help when in need. Students actively interacted with the speaker. A telecounselling helpline number was shared to the students to get professional help in need.
