EDII-TABIF SUPPORT TO STUDENTS FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE PITCHING COMPETITION ORGANIZED BY TNAU, COIMBATORE

Date: 24th & 25th January 2023

                   With the support of TABIF 10 students from ADAC & RI participated in the Pitching Competition on Entrepreneurial Opportunities in Millets organized by Centre for Plant Molecular Biology & Biotechnology, TNAU Coimbatore. Admin Coordinator at TABIF – Ms. D. Santhiya coordinated the students. On Jan 24th First Round of Competition took place in which students from various Agriculture colleges participated total of 200 Teams (3 Students / Team). 3 Teams from ADAC & RI participated. Out of 200 Teams they selected 15 Teams for Second Round, among the 15 Teams selected, one Team from ADAC & RI was qualified for the second round. On Jan 25th Second Round of competition took place in which 15 Teams presented their Innovative Ideas. One Team from ADAC & RI that was qualified for the second round won the 3rd place in the Idea Pitching Competition with a cash prize of Rs. 5000/-  TABIF representative and the students of ADAC & RI took a snap with Dr. V. Geethalakshmi – Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.

 

 

EDII-TABIF SUPPORTED STUDENTS TO ATTEND THE C-CAMP

 WORKSHOP

Date: 22nd & 23rd June 2023

                             Ms. D. Santhiya – Admin Coordinator of EDII-TABIF coordinated eight students of ADAC & RI, Trichy to attend the C-CAMP workshop (Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms) at Bangalore. The workshop focused on fostering entrepreneurship and innovation among young individuals.

 

     IDP  SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM FOR ADAC & RI STUDENTS

Date: 19th – 23rd June 2023 

                       Anbil Dharmalingam Agricultural College & Research Institute, Trichy collaborated with EDII-TABIF to organize a five-day skill development programme under the ICAR-NAHEP. The program aimed to enhance the skills of students in three specific areas, based on their keen interest in skill development training programmes.

                        The first topic focused on “Harnessing AI & Internet tools to increase Agribusiness Throughput”. This segment aimed to educate students about the application of artificial intelligence and internet tools in the agricultural sector. It covered various techniques and technologies that can be utilized to improve the efficiency and productivity of agribusiness operations, thereby increasing the overall thoughtput.

                           The second topic of the skill development program revolved around “Manufacturing and Marketing of Milk and Milk products”. This segment provided participants with comprehensive knowledge and training on the processes involved in the production, processing and marketing of milk and its derived  Students learned about various aspects, such as quality control, packaging, branding and distribution enabling them to develop valuable skills in the dairy industry.

                             The third topic aimed to foster agriculture graduates as “Craft Baker”. This segment focused on training and empowering agriculture graduates to pursue careers in the craft bakery  Participants were exposed to the art of baking, including techniques, recipes, ingredient selection and product development. The program aimed to equip students with the necessary skills to establish and manage craft bakeries, promoting entrepreneurship and innovation in the agricultural sector.

                 Overall, these skill development programs provided students with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and practical skills in specific areas related to agriculture and agribusiness. By offering training in emerging fields and industries, TNAU and TABIF aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical education and real-world application, preparing students for successful careers in the agricultural sector.

ICAR ACCREDITATION VISIT TO EDII-TABIF – PROCEEDINGS

          As a part of the ICAR Accreditation process, Dr. RAKESH SINGH along with Dr. C. Vanniarajan – Dean ADAC & RI, Trichy, Dr. S. Selvam – Professor & Head (Economics), ADAC & RI, Trichy and Dr. K. Geetha – Professor & Head, Food Science & Nutrition, ADAC & RI, Trichy visited EDII-TABIF on 7th July 2023 to oversee its operations and activities.

 

During the visit, the student startups of EDII-TABIF had the opportunity to showcase their innovative products to Dr. Rakesh Singh. The startups highlighted the following products:

  1. FORYZA (FRW)

The main aim of FORYZA is to develop a drink using fermented rice water from traditional varieties of rice. Developing a drink from fermented rice water can have several potential benefits. Fermentation can enhance the nutritional profile of the rice water, increase its digestibility, and potentially introduce beneficial probiotics. Traditional rice varieties may also contribute unique flavors and aromas to the drink. For this idea, the team got awarded in the E-YUVA – BIRAC, a National Level Fellowship worth of Rs. 2.5 lakhs and also a project stipend of Rs. 7500 / student on each quarter.

  1. MAGBLISS (NUTRITIONAL PEANUT BARS)

MAGBLISS is a peanut bar specifically designed for individuals especially women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). It is formulated to contain a high amount of magnesium, which is beneficial for women on their special days. What makes MAGBLISS unique is that the magnesium used in the peanut bars is extracted from papaya leaf. Papaya leaf is known for its natural source of magnesium and other nutrients. By incorporating magnesium extracted from papaya leaf, MAGBLISS aims to provide a natural and effective solution for individuals with PCOS. For this innovative idea, the team received IVP – A grant (Innovation Voucher Programme – A) worth of Rs. 2 lakhs from EDII, TN.

  1. MILLET PRO (MILLET PANI PURI)

Millet Pro presents a unique take on the traditional Indian street food, Pani Puri, by using millet-based ingredients for a healthier twist. Millet Pani Puri offers a nutritious and tasty alternative. For this idea, the student team was awarded with a cash prize of Rs. 5000 in the Idea Pitching Competition on Entrepreneurial Opportunities in Millets organized at TNAU, Coimbatore.

  1. HERBAL WINE (ANTIOXIDANT RICH WINE)

 Herbal Wine is a startup that focuses on producing antioxidant-rich wines using natural and herbal ingredients. The wine aims to provide health benefits along with an enjoyable drinking experience.

  1. MILLETELLA

Milletella is an alternative to Nutella, a popular chocolate-hazelnut spread. Milletella offers a unique twist by using millet-based ingredients instead of hazelnuts. It aims to provide a healthier and more nutritious option compared to traditional chocolate spreads. Millet, being a gluten-free grain rich in essential nutrients, offers a distinctive flavor and texture to the spread.

  1. VIBESUN PORTABLE SOLAR DRYER

Vibesun offers a portable solar dryer that utilizes solar energy to efficiently dry agricultural produce. The dryer provides a cost-effective and environmentally friendly solution for farmers.

  1. MILLET BLOCKS

Millet Blocks serve as an alternative topping option for ice cream. Millet Blocks are likely small blocks or pieces made from millet, which can be used as a crunchy and nutritious topping for ice cream. By incorporating millet into the dessert, it offers a unique texture and flavor profile to enhance the overall ice cream experience.The use of millet as a topping aligns with the growing demand for healthier and diverse alternatives in the food industry. Millet is a gluten-free grain known for its high nutritional value, including fiber, protein, and various essential minerals.

  1. CREATIVE BOUQUETS

Creative Bouquets is a startup specializing in unique and artistic arrangements of flowers and other materials for various occasions. They provide creative and customized bouquet options.

VISIT TO THE FOOD PROCESSING UNIT

 

          Dr. Rakesh Singh visited the Food processing centre of EDII-TABIF. He looked over the facilities and machineries that are available for the production of bakery products. Students of ADAC & RI, Trichy, those who got benefitted by the one week Bakery Training shared their experience and the knowledge gained from the training programme.  

  • MANAGE AGRI EUREKA

 

Harshita Mani M and Akalya S D, pursuing III year at Horticultural College & Research Institute (Women), Trichy participated in MANAGE Agri – Eureka 2023. They cleared 3 rounds and got selected to attend the online training which included lectures given by various entrepreneurs following this they were given an opportunity to attend the offline training at MANAGE, Hyderabad. But due to unfortunate circumstances they couldn’t make it.

  • SESSION TO ADAC & RI STUDENTS AT EDII-TABIF

            EDII-TABIF organized an Interactive session on Modern Packaging for 10 III year students of ADAC & RI. Mr. R. Pon Kumar, Deputy Director & Regional Officer of the Indian Institute of Packaging, Chennai handled the session, which aimed to enhance the students understanding on contemporary packaging practices and their relevance to the agricultural sectors.
