Department of Biotechnology was established with high end facilities to carry out research at genomic, transcriptomic and metabolomics level. The department is linked with Centre of Excellence in Innovation to promote basic and advanced research among students. The expertise of scientists at Centre of Innovation, is utilized for establishing focused research in minor millets suitable for Southern Districts of Tamil Nadu. State of the art equipment and associated infrastructure are available in the Department of Biotechnology in the field of Plant Tissue Culture, Marker Assisted Selection, Omics, Bioprospecting and Stress Biotechnology. Outsourcing services are available for research scholars and faculty for GC-MS, UHPLC, X-ray Florescence, UV-VIS-NIR Spectrophotometer, freeze drier, advanced microscopes, plant growth chamber, net house and green house facility.
