Center of Excellence in Molecular Breeding

With the financial support from NADP the “Centre of Excellence in Molecular Breeding” has been established in 2015 under this Directorate with  SNP  genotyper to strengthen the research through marker assisted selection and mapping of new alleles/genes for target traits.

GOALS

  • Breeding of new crop cultivars with tolerance against biotic/abiotic stresses
  • Providing a platform for students, research scholars, post doctoral fellows and scientists to undertake innovative research.
  • Providing training to students and scientists in various aspects of marker assisted breeding

Training Details:

Following trainings are conducted every month at the CEMB.

1. Hands on Training for QTL analysis with various software
(Linkage analysis: Mapmaker, QTLICIM; QTL analysis: QTLICIM, WinQTL cartographer, Qgene)

2. Hands on Training for analysis of plant breeding data with R
(Scripts writing for variability analysis, CRD, RBD; Agricolae package)

3. Hands on training for analysis of F1-hybrids data with software
