The Breeder Seed unit has been included as separate wing in this Directorate from 01.08.2013. The Director, CPBG, act as nodal officer for production and distribution of nucleus and breeder seed production of agricultural and horticultural crops of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. The production planning, monitoring the quality of seed production and issue of the breeder seed tags are being look after by the nodal office. The breeder seeds of different crop varieties are being distributed to the State Department of Agriculture, Government of India, private seed producers and seed producing farmers as per the indent. Besides this, notification of the released varieties by TNAU every year is being co-ordinated at the breeder seed unit.
