Department of Oilseeds, also called as Oilseeds Breeding Station is functioning under the Directorate of Centre for Plant Breeding and Genetics.  It is located at the northern side of the University main campus. This department is doing multi disciplinary research work in major oilseed crops viz., groundnut, sunflower and sesame.

Department of Oilseeds is situated at an elevation of 426.72m and between 11 N latitude and 77 E longitude. The average rainfall received at this centre is around 674 mm per year. The distribution of rainfall during south west and north east monsoon is 28 and 49 per cent of the total rainfall respectively. Total area of oilseeds farm is 15.75 acres.
