CENTRE FOR ADVANCED FACULTY TRAINING (CAFT)
The Directorate of Centre for Plant Breeding and Genetics has been identified as CAFT for Genetics and Plant Breeding since 1992, based on the human resource available and the due to the available infrastructure. The Centre for Plant Breeding and Genetics has conducted 25 Advance Faculty Training Programme with the financial support from ICAR. The topics for the training programmes were based on the demanding needs of the scientists of plant breeding and to update the knowledge level based on global needs. To update the professional skills of teachers and researchers in the latest knowledge and techniques in the field of their specialization is essential to bring about the desired qualitative improvement and necessary orientation to contemporary problems to make research and education more relevant. Every year 20-25 scientists across the country specialized in Genetics and Plant Breeding subject were trained to know more on the advances in plant breeding. There will be pre evaluation and post evaluation and feedback session. All the trainees were exposed to various breeding department and institutes in TNAU and in Coimbatore and nearby districts. Hands on training were given. At the end the feedback from the trainees were viewed seriously to upgrade the standard of the future trainings.
